I think I'd give her a biscuit as "dessert" after she's checked all the bowls. Maybe knowing that there would be a bit more food coming her way would help her depression. Who knows why she acts the way she does, maybe something in her past, or just a quirk of her own, but it's real and it makes her sad. I have a hound mix who is sad unless she gets the last bite of my dinner. She has known want, so I'm ok with that and so are the other dogs. Cassie perks up after her "last bite" and is ready to go out, or take a nap.
