Typically, the only way I get off the bogey train is to double bogey a hole .

They're getting better though. Last month I was getting lucky and getting 2-3 par's a round and bogeys the rest of the way. It was pure luck and a single lucky swing followed by 8 or so brutal hack jobs. Now I'm getting 1 par, maybe 2 per round but no penalties, no lost balls, no weird stuff but my tempo has slowed down and is costing me distance. When I have this new swing ingrained in my muscle memory and I can step it back up and maybe use a driver once in a while on par 5's, I can hope for 6 pars a round can't I?
