I am currently on the course in this type of situation. I should have known from the start to just leave. Started with me being a single and a two-some scheduled 1 slot ahead of me. I go up and ask if they would like to play together since it's a little backed up. The woman says she gets nervous when she plays with others. I'm like no problem. They have both been playing for about 1 week, so it was a slow first hole. After I finish 1,they wave me through. I say thanks and play on, and run into a 4some in front of me now. They are a bunch of college kids taking 3 tee shots each...etc... Once they tee off, the group that was being me gets to the tee box I'm waiting on. The husband comes up and asks "what's the hold up, hit your ball". :what: I respond that they are still in my range. The guy then has the gall to say "the game is about adjusting, pick a different club and get going" :screwy: I told him I'm waiting, and the only thing that needs adjusting is your attitude. He had a look of astonishment that a 21 year old "kid" would say something back to him. But that's only the start of it. I finish that hole and the 4 some are still on the tee. I counted no less than 7 tee shots from them. I ask them if they mind if I played through, their response "this is our tee time, you can wait behind us"
at this point I should have just left, but I stayed and kept playing. The group behind me gets to me again, and now the guy gets his phone out and starts playing the jeopardy song while I wait for the group to clear....... I walk up to him and tell him to turn off the music and enjoy the course, being here with your wife, and being outside in great weather. During my back swing, he stomps on the gas pedal of his cart, releasing the break and rattling the clubs.... Mid swing.... At this point I had had it. We came to blows, I go to his cart, ask him if he has a problem here, and he says "ya, we let you play through and now you're playing slow". It took everything I had not to go ballistic, I just went back to my cart, and as I started driving to my ball... You guessed it... He tees off while I'm maybe 150 off the tee. It La ds 30 yards in front of me. That was enough, I squared up on his ball, aimed back at him and hit a beautiful 170 yard 7 iron that 1 hopped to his feet. I finished the hole and left after 6 out of 9 holes.... Could I have handled it better, possibly, but I just couldn't put up with anymore of that stuff.
