So today at my club I was on the driving range trying out a new driver from the pro shop that I was really looking into. First of all, I had the ok from the pro shop to hit driver on the range. Second, I have hit driver with the pro from my course watching me on the range. Anyways, today I went to go test it out and I hit a bad shot. One guy stops hitting and just looks at me so I look at him straight right in the eye as I tee up another one. For the record, I am a 9 handicap and I usually drive the bell quite well. I go and take another swing and didn't hit it well but straight and a little high. This guy then starts talking to me and says "you shouldn't be hitting driver if you don't know where it's going to go and if it can reach the back." in an obnoxious voice. I tell him that I know where it's going to go it was just one NA shot. And he says "we all have bad shots but if ur continuously hitting them you shouldnt hit that club" in the same rude voice. My dad was with me otherwise I would've become quite angry. If he would've told me in a nice way and not in such a rude manner it is a completely different story. I feel that just because I'm a junior member we get treated with no respect and older members feel they have the right to tell us off. I don't see how this is fair. I had the go ahead from the pro shop staff to take the driver and hit it on the range and the pro has even seen me hit. Of course trying to be polite I didn't mention any of this to the man but it just ticks me off that just because I'm a junior we get told off but if another older member hits their clubs and has bad shots like I've seen so many times no one says anything. Maybe I'm wrong but I just had to vent. Most of the adult members of the course are really nice and polite and encourage us juniors to do what it takes to get better but some just make me want to stop playing all together because they're so rude.
