I run a fair amount (about 25-30 miles/week), and I find it really helps my golf game. There's the obvious cardio benefits, but it also keeps my weight down, which helps me make a better turn. (Apparently, it's easier to make a proper turn when there's not as much mass around your waist...)

I also try to lift free weights about once a week. I don't do much (all upper body and core), and I don't use much weight. I will really bulk up if I start lifting weights regularly, which hurts my swing. But I do find that minimal weights help my strength and flexibility.
haha, I can attest to that one

but seriously, if you're wanting flexibility, use smaller weights where you are in control, and focus on increasing your flexibility little by little. No need to do stretches with 75lb dumbbells, that's not going to help at all.
