If I have a severe downhill I still like to get it past the hole, it leaves a better putt coming back if I miss. If I'm way below the hole and uphill I like to get it past by a foot or so. Gives me a read on the the break.

I think getting it past the hole helps your speed on those 6-10 footers. My last round in Florida with JB was an eye opener. I'd leave putts short and never have a shot. Sometimes breaks move more than we think and just trying to die it can exaggerate the break to the point we miss an easy putt. JB gave me some good advice and its helped me when i remember to follow it. In the end, you have to pick a strategy and always stick to it. I personally am a fan of a firm putt and if I leave it short and miss, I more disappointed than if I miss while being long.
