Guess I should add, full disclosure - this is something my father-in-law has come up with and is trying to perfect. Just about all the courses around my area put mats into play for a period of the winter, and it's something he's not keen on either.

He asked me to try it and see what I thought. Gave him my thoughts, but I also wanted to get some feedback on here - any feedback at all will be useful.
