I have come to the realization that for some unknown reason, I have a huge gap between my 8 and 9 iron. I consistently hit my 9 iron around 130-135, and my 7 iron around 175-180. However, my 8 iron I hit around 155-160, and it is not uncommon to hit it 170 when I get ahold of it. I don't understand it. Every now and then I will hit every iron farther than I expected, and will overshoot the green. But it seems like it is more often then not with the 8 iron. I looked up the lofts and 7/8/9 is 33/37/41. I am just baffled by the distance I am consistently getting on my 8 iron.

I'm going to gps every shot with my short irons on my next round, and see what the numbers are saying.

Yeah, a 30 yard gap between irons should not be happening. That's more than two clubs for a lot of people. You could always go have the loft on the 9 decreased a full club and see how that works.
