When is it no longer rude to leave your foursome?
After work this afternoon I decided to play a quick nine at a local course. I went alone and was paired up with a twosome and another single. From the very start it was obvious that it was going to be a slow round. The twosome I was paired with each took 10-12 practice swings and then stood above their ball for about 30 seconds before each hit. Not bad players but they took for ever. They even walked slow and then would spend long periods of time looking for their balls (8-10 minutes) On the second green we were already 2 holes behind the group in front of us. By the time we were on four we were 4 holes behind and a foursome jumped in front of us.
I made multiple references that we were backing up the course and we should pick up the pace but these 2 guys seemed unable to do so. I gave up after 6 (3 hours later) and told them I need to get home.
Needless to say I was very frustrated and annoyed and it was effecting my game. I am use to slow play but it is rarely my group. For some reason it was WAY more frustrating seeing it first hand.
So, the question is, When is it OK to tell your group you are playing through them without being rude?
