I've always had the idea that the invitor is going to pick up the tab be it dinner, golf, etc.... If you invited me, I'd ask about paying my greenfee at the start. If you picked it up, I would want to invite you to play at the next opportunity on my dime. I know people who are members at different clubs and they do round swaps all the time. Guests rates at some privates are a good deal so either party can reciprocate pretty easily.
This all may go out the window depending on how much money is lost or won though.
