If you make a hole in one and no one is around, did it happen?
I was playing a twilight round by myself and on the back nine as I was approaching the second par 3, I started thinking about my upcoming shot. Then as I normally do on par 3's, a fleeting thought crossed my mind...it would be great to finally get a hole in one.
Then I looked around.
There was no one within 2 holes of me (ahead and behind). The pro shop was a good 3-5 minute cart ride away. If I did make that ace...who I would get to confirm it? Golf is a game of honor so ideally the person who came around to confirm it wouldn't question whether I had made it or not. But I do know it would feel a whole lot better if there were witnesses close by.
And no, I didn't make an ace today.
