I don't think it's really worth it to try this. For example, I ordered new irons last year, and the lofts were stronger at the back end than I was used to. So, I cut out the 3 iron, adjusted my 4 5 and 6, and order a gap wedge. Lofts really don't need to play that big of a difference since most can be adjusted within certain tolerances everyday. Ping will let you adjust any iron up to 4* difference either way, according ot their website. Not sure about the others. I would be more concerned about getting the shaft right, then adjusting the irons if you need to. Or just use a different club for the same distance.
