It's common courtesy and although it doesn't make someone who doesn't do it a degenerate or anything, it tells you a little about him, like so many little things in this great game. Respect for others plays a huge part in golf and removing your headwear is just a small part of that.

I understand that players will wear their caps for interviews afterwards for sponsorship reasons but it's not something I like. But I don't lose sleep over it either. I am of course and old English fuddy-duddy who plays in tweeds, smokes a pipe whilst putting and doesn't allow women to vote on committees (whaterever next?) so probably worth considering that when you read my thoughts on the matter.
