I like the posts in the middle of the fairway too, if, as bogey said, they are accurate. You are very unlikely to hit one, plus it gives you a target to shoot at when it's hard to tell exactly where to aim. It would be nice if the course put a post at 250 as well, especially on par fives, but I've only seen 150 posts. Other yardages are usually marked on the cart path on the courses I play. Most courses have a 150 bush or similar. I never did like searching around for sprinkler heads but up until about 10 years ago, I had no choice.

I use the posts more as targets, since I have a GPS and rangefinder.
