Bogey was whining, er complaining that fairway markers were off on the course he played yesterday. I think it's Bogey that is off, but anyway, the course I played only had markers at 150 and they were bushes. I know many of you use a GPS or rangefinder, but for those who don't - what type of markers do you prefer - those rounded ones in the ground, stakes on the edge of the fairway, big stakes in the middle of the fairway, markers on sprinkler heads or bushes? Also, do you think that as GPS's become more prevalent, courses will do away with markers entirely?
If I only had to rely upon a visual marker, I prefer either the pole in the fairway "150 Marker" or a white post alongside the fairway. They're not the most aesthetic things in the world, but for a quick reference, they're fine.

Next, would be the standard Red, White and Blue discs in the fairway (for 100, 150 & 200 yds. respectively) and dead last are the badges on the sprinkler heads. These are "dead last" because they are often hard to find, or simply non-existent due to repair or damage.

This is why I regard GPS as one of the best "golf" inventions ever created.
