As someone that tests different equipment every week I can tell you that it has had a negative effect on my game. Drivers do not normally hurt my score, but changing irons, wedges, and putters sure does.

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If the game is all about fun and you really like the new stuff, I say buy it. If you are looking for something to make your game better with each purchase then you may have an issue. While new technology continues to come out and make clubs "better" for many players, the constant changing WILL cause problems.
