Socks are a no brainer:

White.

They have to be white!

(In fact, I think that's an actual rule).

Except, of course, when you are wearing butt ugly plaid bermudas.... in which case, they have to be black, knee length, and worn with those velcro orthopedic shoes. If you can pair that with a striped shirt, you are styling.
