To the original question, I have moments where I'm quite good and had a spell of about three years where I'd take my chances against pretty much anyone (I think my peak achievement was shooting 98, over 27 holes). Now, I don't play so much and have issues with my short game which hold me back, so I'm not so good now. I still have flashes of brilliance, but they don't last very long. I'm also with JP on the honesty front. I don't lie about scores that I've shot or shoot. I just don't see the point.

As to the other question of would I play with someone better than me? Yes. Definitely. I love playing with people who are better than I am, for exactly the reasons that JP said in his post. You learn what they do, how they deal with certain situations and you can watch how to put a really good score together.
