So whats the story of how it came to be known as the Solheim Cup? I know that it was named after legendary golf club designer and founder of Ping, Karsten Solheim, but whats the story behind it?

Karsten Solheim was the driving force behind the creation of the event and was the title sponsor. So, basically, the idea and the money.
