I know some folks who wait to buy their "annual new driver" when it is one, or two models older than really new stuff. They rationalize it as "just how good can the newer stuff be?" Their new club, a year, or so ago, was touted as the best on the market at the time, but now has price tag $200 less because it is now a "has been" piece of equipment.

I actually believe that high price of golf items is one of the few hold overs from when the wealthy were the only ones playing the game.
