I have always been the same way. The harder the course the better I seem to play. Not necessarily score better, but play better. In my experience the higher rated courses are usually just better courses. IMO it is easier to play better on better courses. Better fairways, greens, tee boxes, etc. It is easier to play when you have good lies in the fairway, and the greens roll true. The 5500 yard goat track of a course barley has grass on the greens and you're lucky to find grass in the fairway even if you are playing the ball up. Much easier to play on the good courses, which are usually higher rated.
