My buddies & I will play "weekend" golf. hit OB take a drop where it went out same for lost balls. Also play "within the leather" for puts.we're just playing for fun & it keeps the game movin, not holding up a public course.

Ah, the lost ball. I'd like to get people's opinions on this one.

I know it's the rules, but it drives me nuts when a player loses his ball, spends their 5 minutes looking, then walks back to the tee. If I think a ball even 'could' be lost, I will hit a provisional. If by chance I don't hit a provisional because I'm pretty sure I'm going to find it, but then end up losing the ball, I will drop near where I think it should be after searching and hit away. Clearly this is for casual play.

Am I being too casual?
