I had a laserdisc player. Several years ago it stopped showing any signs of power. I suspect the power transformer board is bad. However, its not worth repairing. Yet for some ODD reason, I STILL have it sitting on a shelf.
Bought it open box, they were using it for Demo's. When I took it home it STILL had a copy of Aladdin in it.
Compared to VHS of the time the quality was incredible. And even compared to DVD the quality is slightly better on average, but very hard to tell. Mostly it was the audio I could tell the difference on. In T2 when Arnold has just beaten up the biker for his clothes and is leaving, the shot-gun blast has such incredible bass extension. Its not the volume of it, but the crazy low frequencies. My DVD copy of T2 doesn't come close, though the blueray version I have is just as good, probably better. However I can't compare anymore as the player is busted.
