Not sure if you have downloaded process view/killer app yet. Try it out and see what is running and how much ram is being consumed. there is also a widget you can download that tells you what frequency the CPU is running at, see if it throttles it self and how high its avg load is.
My dell from ATT used up a lot of juice when I first got it but once i changed the rom and cut down on its memory footprint it got much better. I can go about 30 hours until it dies (with a little bit of angry birds, my screen uses a lot of power) and it is synced with my work and personal email accounts.
