I had bought a Droid X a week before the local shops got in the Thunderbolt, and while I loved the X to pieces, I couldn't turn down the opportunity to get the TB. And I'd say it was worth it. Batteries are waaay worse than the X, but the screen is sharper, the UI responds faster, things don't bog down when I have 30 apps going at once, its just really nice.

I can't comment on 4G vs 3G as it hasn't reached my area yet.

Only real downside is that Swype isn't built in like the X. I got the beta installed, but it was buggy as hell, and eventually just stopped working altogether. I've read that they're working on an updated version, but till then it is annoying.
