Antarctica used to be connected to the other continents so no it's not impossible for fossilized bacterial life forms to be found there untouched for 1000's of years.
It's been millions and millions of years since Antarctica had a warm climate. Since then, it's been covered in thousands of feet of ice and snow (average depth of 7,000 feet).

So tell me how these fossils magically made their way to the surface?
