I didn´t read the story, but am i assuming correctly that he sold everything, bought the lambo, did the trip and now has absolutely nothing ?

In short, yes.

It probably never popped in his mind either that it would have been wise to get the Lambo for a proficient and approved mechanic at least once or twice during the trek. Plus that normal service routine of course. Now he apparently has a wreck in his hands and nothing else than sweet memories...

For an Italian car getting that mileage is great!
