well ive just been reading up on those old thompson sky HD boxes that had component and hdmi out puts and you can put ur SD old card in and it will act like a standard sky digital box but with the bonus of outputting via hdmi and component.

but basically that's a lot extra mohoney for something that this converter can do.

so the Thompson box will be an last ditch option if the converter don't work
