Well you can't get a copy right infringement using IRC, no uploading. ;-) Plus I find it quicker because less people use it now so queues are shorter.

I used Microsoft Comic Chat which was irc with a nice qui that made your chat into a comic strip with emotions, backgrounds and such... it was awesome and I'm sad it died. Yeah, come to think of it that was 1998 as well.

I've tried to find decent chat rooms now but it's very difficult.
