its still just a commodore. sure its got a nice engine, rwd, big size, but the interior will fall apart, things will break, and it will lose value quickly.

but thats what americans like..... thats all that GM makes, and people still buy the stupid things.

lol, you have no clue do you? Been inside any recent GM vehicles by chance? If you haven't noticed, a lot of what they offer is being improved greatly and being top rated.
Also, if you haven't noticed, everything except for Toyota, Honda, and Acura, don't hold any value. BMW's are no exception.
The Pontiac GTO is actually holding its price tag pretty well, though I am sure that there will be a lot less of these once the G8 is out for a while.
So what if it loses value more so then something else, at least you already saved $15,000 from a loaded G8 to a baseline BMW 535i, which is its main rival in size, but is able to even top a BMW 335. Supposed to be pretty comparable in interior quality and comfort also from the reviews that I have seen.
It really is the fastest, and the best quality all a round car that you can buy for less then $30k, and rivals competition all the way up into the $50k land mark.

Also, don't forget that this is only the GT that we are talking about. Wait for Pontiac's GXP and be blown away!!!
