you can use the items as you wish, the only real stipulation is that you must return them in a condition which shows they have not been mistreated or used for a purpose other than that which they are intended for.

there are exceptions, such as if you got something custom made [obviously], perishable goods [again obviously], and things like music and games which have been opened etc but you're pretty much within your rights to return any other physical item, within those magic 7 days. In fact, just have to let them know intention to cancel within those 7 days, then it's up to them how long it takes after that.

in this case, after a couple of months, you can either bullshit a story or hope for goodwill, but they're well within their rights to say you're on your own.
