Agreed.

I find it annoying that I know more about the lives of people like her or (insert useless celebrity name here) than I want to simply because I cannot escape hearing about them either on the "news" or seeing headlines when I surf or pick up a paper or magazine.

I enjoy knowing useless trivia but I would prefer to save the brain storage room for something else.
