Main supplier of income sick in bed? Children not able to get money or work?

Isn't there some form of government aid for this? I know that over here in the united states if my fiance's sister doesn't want to work I get to pay for her $300 a month in foodstamps along with all her bills so that she can blow what money she does have on... well.. lets call it "stuff" and leave it at that. I love governments.. take from the moderately poor and give to the lazy. Its so Robin Hood.

While I think cutting the power was crappy, perhaps the power company wasn't fully aware of the situation. She should have had a backup plan. Maybe she should have been in the hospital if the situation was that serious.
