From what i gather, is that no one was officially notified of her condition. So, when they did go to cut it, how could they know? Fact is, i know power companies give many warnings before cutting the power, and here they specifically state that she received these. Somebody, either herself or a relative (indeed, the article does make it sound like she had decent family contact) should have taken care of this long before it got to this point.
It is a sad loss, and one that could have been fixed with some communication. In this case though, her family is just as much at fault as the company is (unless they did notify them, which would make it all different)...
