Amongst the actions prescribed by the Mutasawwifoon is that the person should perform the Salaah as if it is the last Salaah of their life. (i.e. They will die once the Salaah is complete.) A person with this kind of mindset, that "This is my final Salaah" will have full concentration of Allah Ta`ala and nothing else.
Also, Hakeem-ul-Ummat Hazrat Thanvi (Rahmatullahi `Alayhi) advised that during the Salaah the person should keep his attention on the posture he is in, and not concern himself with the postures and Rakaa`aat to come after it. What this means, is that if for example the person is in Rukoo` during the first Rakaa`ah of Fajr, then he should keep his attention only on this Rukoo`. He should perform the Tasbeehaat with complete concentration, have I`tminaan in this posture (don't rush), and perform the posture as if it is the last part of your Salaah, as if you will not leave this posture. Do this in every posture of the Salaah. (Concentrate on the posture you are in and do not concern yourself with the postures and Rakaa`aat to come after.)
Also, the Wudhoo' that the person had performed, should be performed with concentration. If this is done, Inshaa'Allahu Ta`ala the Salaah will be performed with concentration.
Besides this, for a non-`Aalim who does not know Arabic, he should learn from an `Aalim the meanings of the Tasbeehaat that is recited in the Salaah, and make an effort if possible to understand the meanings of some of the Surahs. This will aid greatly in concentration.
Regarding the question of byellow200: Yes, when performing the Takbeerat-ul-Oolaa (The Takbeer to start the Salaah), the person should feel as if he is throwing the Dunyaa and all things besides Allah Rabbul `Izzah behind him. This has been mentioned in the Kitaabs of Maulana A.S. Desai.
