how can hadith be a trusted source of infromation, when it has past long time since the time of the sahaba and it was not promised gaurded like the quran?

actually wahi was of two types: the one which was recited (Qur'an) and one which was not (hadith). every word the Prophet (PBUH) spoke was from Allah (SWT).
both are protected. for we know exactly which ahadith are sahih, which are hasan, daeef and fabricated.

if someone doesnt believe in authentcity of ahadith they shouldnt believe in authenticity of QUr'an either as both came to us (i.e you and me) via the same medium.
