Indeed what Sidi Nasr mentioned is the case. There are many examles of the noble prophet, Muhammad Sallallah `Alayh wa Sallam accomodating culture as long as it does not contradict the divinely revealed principles. If it does, then we should drop it without a doubt since we don't live for this world, we live for the Akhirah.
