Salafi brothers at my local are sometimes too plain ignorant, they absolutely pay no attention to joining shoulders, it is always their feet that is spread so wide trying to touch their neighbours to the extent that their shoulders are not touching.

After Salah today they jumped onto the topic of joining the ankles and it's importance with me ( because i didn't join it with them ). Just say it went on for an hour long debate.

start talk about joining shoulder to shoulder first. and you should also join(doesnt mean touch or press) but keep the feets closer.
