High heels are certainly uncomfortable. I remember my mum tried wearing them when she was younger, and I was the one who had to massage her aching calves and feet every night. Finally she saw sense and gave up, and wore comfortable plimsols instead.

Why should women torture themselves wearing something so impractical?
