to suggest that taqleed is "proofless" is an insult to all the followers of the four madhabs.

taqleed (and ittiba) are both based on proof, and someone who does taqleed also has a basis for his taqleed - the only thing is, he doesnt know what that proof is, even though it is there.

students who start studying in Darul Ulooms will generally not know their proofs for what they do for the first 3 years of their course. They are doing pure taqleed. Once they get to the fourth year, they start learning what their proofs are, and in their final years they also learn what the proofs for the other madhabs are.

ALL people start off doing taqleed. If they then study Islam for years on end, they then start understanding the proofs for everything they do. eventually, they may become Mujtahids, but this is very difficult and takes a long time.

as for ittiba, it is the same as taqleed. Taqleed means to bind yourself to someone (ie do what they do) and ittiba means to follow someone (ie do what they do), In effect, the 2 meanings are the same, even though some people may claim otherwise.

For Hanafi proofs, see the 20 volume book "i'laa us sunan" or the 25 volume work "al mabsut li sarakhsi"
For shafi proofs, you will have to ask a shafi scholar where your proofs are found.
