Now I did a quick research and found out that Malik became an apostate, and the tax money which he used to collect (it was his responsibility), he handed them all back to his tribe, after the death of Rasulullah (saw). Hence, he and his tribe became apostates and as such, the rules of iddah would not apply to his wife.
