When I read that Malik had became an apostate, I had to put 1 and 1 together to get 2. I was like, "wait, how can she have a period of iddah when the whole tribe took back the money given as Zakat? For Malik to give back the money of Zakat, it makes him an apostate (if the version of history I read is correct) and the tribe, including his wife, too became apostates for taking back that which was given as Zakat."

So I, based on what I read, sort of reasoned to arrive to that conclusion. May Allah (swt) forgive me if I made an error in judgment.
