As salam alaikum

In terms of largest Muslim populations, its argued by Chinese Muslims for which I largely agree, that Muslims of China have one of the largest Muslim population over all. Its estimated that their numbers are between 150 and 200 million. The Chinese government suppresses this by rejecting the reality that ethnic Han and Manchu Chinese have converted to Islam or were born as Muslims for generations. Rather, the CCP prefers to only recognize people's ethnicities, thus the majority of Chinese are of Han ethnicity and the CCP ascribe communism and confucianism to them regardless.

That being said, it seems preposterous that Muslims would assume India is a FINE place to be Muslim.
According to my friend from Madras/Kerala, the RSS and Sangh Parivar have orchestrated a nationwide campaign to against Muslims , overtly and covertly. Their strategy is in competitive markets, to pressurize Muslim businesses to relent to Hindu owned businesses, even to abandon prime locations for hindu locations. And they do this in the classic mafia ways of direct threats, or threats against family, or mock violence as a threat. Riots and murders occur in order to pressurize Muslims. And this is a long term systematic campaign- not an open riot. So Muslims are slow and weak to respond, succumbing gradually.

BTW, its been known that Hindus in the Khaleej get their people in key positions and then discriminate to get more of their own into jobs and positions. So a hindu becomes an HR manager in charge of recruiting, and then covertly discriminates to bring in hindus over all others, including locals. If a VP doesn't pay attention, his entire workforce can staffed by hindus.

This is one reasons that Gulf countries have instituted nationalization campaigns to get more locals hired. Hence, UAE and Saudis have both implemented this strategy.
