Good points. I have a question regarding Indian Muslims.
When most any immigrant community settle in America, they have almost all acquired American attire and language.
And yet, when immigrant communities have formed in UAE, they retain their language and dress. Almost none wear dishdasha. Some were Indian turban. None wear ghutra. The vast majority wear Western styled pants and shirt.

"When in Rome, do as Romans do" doesn't apply.

Any ideas why that is?

Incidently, I saw a Chinese tourist walking in the mall with two fellow tourist yesterday in a red ghutra and dishdasha.

Being in India, I can tell most of muslim men here wear western pants and shirts and perhaps they wear the same everywhere. It looks distinct in arab world as arabs clothing is different whereas in USA as it is almost the same, people don't find the difference. Allahu alam.
