SubhanAllah what a courageous stand by Shaykh Yaqoubi. He didn't care about the fact that his position as rector was rescinded. May Allah preserve him!

However, I am still in some aspects, a bit confused about the situation. Of course, what Assad's loons are doing is completely inhumane and brutal (I know some people from Hama). However, prominent Shuyukh such as Shaykh Ramadaan al Bouti have spoken against the protests while at the same time not being pro-regime. Apparently he said that the protests initially came out with good intentions but later resorted to violence and vandalism. He termed it haraj as per the hadith and said that the assignment of Fridays as a "Day of Rage" is reprehensible.
