[QUOTE=Spadplanter] Food will always be available. No one will EVER starve on the streets of America. You bring up a fantasy and a strawman arguement. It is not possible here, except by choice. Welfare is financial assitance for people that can't support themselves. That includes food.

Welfare was a simple vote-buying scheme from our dear ultra-liberal friend Lyndon Johnson. All of the negative effects were foretold back in '63. Wrong. It's been around since the Great Depression under many names.

Whatever you subsidize, you get more of. It's really very simple. If you pay people to not go to work, they won't. If you pay them more to have babies, they'll have babies. The outcome of all this was perfectly obvious right at the beginning. Illegitimacy, crime and the destruction of the family were built into welfare. Exactly why they set a maximum on it. Your 10 years too late for this complaint.
