Someone wrote earlier that the Kennedy's think of themselves as being above most Americans. I just don't believe that to be true. In their actions on matters of policy that argument doesn't hold up either. They stood for the environment, for raising the minimum wage, for creating a ladder so that all Americans could benefit. Were they brighter than most? Yes. I think the difference between the Kennedy's and the Bush's is that the Bush's represent only those who put them in power, while the Kennedy's have historically represented everyone.

Besides, when it comes to leading the country, I would prefer a candidate who is "above" me. And what I mean by that is that I would want a president to be like the people, but at the same time, a notch above us in their thinking and reasoning. That's what makes us look up to the good ones, right?
The Kennedys were classic limosine liberals. They talked integration while they sent their kids to white private schools. They were hypocrites of the highest order. They thought that they were above the law and above all standards of behavior. Teddy cheated in Harvard and got kicked out. His Daddy gave Harvard a new library and he was reinstated. JFK was so incompetent that he managed to get a PT Boat, the fastest vessel in the Navy during WWII, cut in half by a slow-moving Japanese Destroyer. That incompetence got him medals and a guaranteed career in politics. RFK appeared to be the only one who wasn't a screw up, but he was a skirt-chaser like his brothers. An amazing feat given the fact that he and Ethel had 11 kids of their own.
