Bush and his co-conspirators will not give up on the FTAA. All of these so-called free trade agreements are really volumes of regulations that transfer power from the member states to un-elected bureaucrats that act in the interests of the multinational corporations. There are at least 29,000 pages of regulations in NAFTA, WTO, and CAFTA agreements. Once Congress passed them, they became the law of the land.

Bush wants the final nail in America's coffin, the FTAA, to be passed quickly, so debate on the true goal of these agreements will not occur. For example, Chapter ll, article 4.2 of the FTAA Agreement states: "The Parties (member states, including America) shall insure that their laws, regulations, and administrative procedures are consistent with the obligations of this agreement. The rights and obligations under this Agreement are the same for all the Parties, [whether Federal or unitary States, including the different levels and branches of government], unless otherwise provided in this agreement."

This means that all 34 member states of the FTAA must change their laws, etc. in order to conform with the many regulations or face penalties imposed by an outside tribunal. Lawsuits and threats of legal action by corporations against federal and state laws of Canada, America, and Mexico have been successful under WTO and NAFTA jurisdiction. These tribunals have overruled courts in all three nations. The goal of these "trade agreements " is to destroy the sovereignty of all member states and to give them "equal sovereignty" under the control of a suprastate.

Bush, Fox of Mexico, and Martin of Canada agreed on March 23, 2005 to commit their nations (without the knowledge or consent of the people) to the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPPNA- to be called North America). Teams are now working on plans to implement this new creation (no more sovereign America) by 2010. This plan is a blueprint for big business and will rely on the previous trade agreements to operate.

The system will include a common perimeter around all three nations and open borders- that means a free flow of cheap labor across the border.

Bush has said that he wants this new North American community to show the rest of the hemisphere that it will work. If the FTAA passes, the one million jobs lost to Americans by NAFTA will pale by comparison. The entire Western Hemisphere will have access to America (800,000,000 people). An example: A recent PEW poll found that if Bush gets his guest worker bill passed, 50% of Mexicans will cross the border. That is 50,000,000 Mexicans. No Problem.

Every American will be competing for jobs. This includes the professions: engineers, teachers, nurses, managers, etc. Check out the draft of the Free Trade Area of the Americas agreement. It gives carte blanche to big business, including access to public functions like education, healthcare, and social security, where applicable.
