When would you intend on getting the cash out? If the clear answer is "when you retire" then put just as much into your company's 401K because they may fit and put the remainder in a handful of high-yield index funds (I take advantage of Vanguard), then dismiss it for twenty to forty years (apart from to put in more income once a or once a or whatever). If the clear answer is "in a few years" (e.g. If you should be thinking about purchasing a home) then change to lower-but-more-consistent-yield resources. If the clear answer is "in significantly less than a year" then make use of a dartboard.
