NYC Mayor Suspends 'Hate Talking' Imam, NY Post Reports

(CNSNews.com) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday suspended the Muslim chaplain who heads the city's jail system after the imam claimed that Muslim prisoners were being tortured and said "the greatest terrorists in the world occupy the White House." Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil, the executive director of ministerial services for the Department of Correction, is now on paid administrative leave from his $76,602-a-year job, pending the outcome of an investigation into his inflammatory remarks, the New York Post reported. Outraged lawmakers demanded Abdul-Jalil be fired immediately, but Bloomberg said he is a civil service employee, so that can't happen.
